Will Ferrell
Will Ferrell
rose to fame as a part of the cast of 'Saturday Night Live,' before starring in
such big-screen comedy films as 'Elf"Anchorman," and 'Talladega
Nights.' In 1967, in Irvine, California, Will Ferrell began his career in
comedy while an actor with the Los Angeles-based improv group the Groundlings.
He was a Saturday Night Live cast member for seven years before becoming a
major comedic draw through off-color successes, including Old School 2003 and
Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy 2004. Ferrell was a co-founder of Funny
or Die, a popular video streaming website. Also, he had his success as a voice
actor in animated movies such as Megamind (2010). John William Ferrell was
conceived in Irvine, California on July 16th 1967. Will Ferrell is the oldest
child of Righteous Brothers keyboardist Lee Ferrell (and Kay Ferrell), but he
wasn't exactly the class clown when he was in University High School. Ferrell
who was quiet and reserved was adamant about making his mark on the field, where
he set the school record for the most field goals that he made. Ferrell was a
more laid-back person in homes with a suburban feel and didn't exhibit the same
kind of funny or outrageous exasperations later on that defined his career.
"Very even-tempered, and very comfortable," his mother recalled in an
interview with Esquire. "You're familiar with the Matchbox
automobiles?" Will be ecstatic if he lined up all of his Matchbox cars by
himself. You would say, "You want to go to Disneyland today?" and
he'd think about the idea. Ferrell was not a straight guy. When he would make
his daily announcements on the PA system, a glimpse into his comedy talents was
revealed each morning at high-school. After graduating in 1986, Ferrell was a
student at the University of Southern California at Los Angeles, where he was a
member of the Delta Tau fraternity and pursued an education in sports
journalism.
